Hamilton General Hospital

Hamilton Health Sciences is affiliated with the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University. In October 2008, the Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation was named one of "Canada's Top 100 Employers" by Mediacorp Canada Inc., and was featured in Maclean's newsmagazine.
It was formed in 1996 when Hamilton General, Henderson General, McMaster University Medical Centre, McMaster Children's Hospital, and Chedoke Hospital merged to form Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation.

Due to the lack of digitalization, nurses are constantly being occupied by paperwork associated with patient’s medical history and their medication schedule. Bridging Clinic required a digital solution that can assist patient with the management of meds for before and after surgery as well as improving efficiency when filling out required forms.

Thrombolink is a mobile application designed for both patients and nurses.

It allows Bridging Clinic to:

Easily collect patients’ medical history without the presence of any nurses
Guide patient with the specificaiton on correct medication use before surgery to prevent complications
Provide patients with a medication schedule to follow after surgery
Quickly access and cross reference data at any point in time

Client Success

Paper Forms: Estimated 20 minutes per patient
Thrombolink: Estimated less than 5 minutes per patient

The new interface will reduce the time spent on paperwork by 75%, allowing nurses to focus on providing quality patient care instead. Thrombolink brought a significant improvement in the clinic’s efficiency as well as the management of drugs for patients suffering from this particular disease.

Creating an educational application for GI

The University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine is the medical school of the University of Toronto. Founded in 1843, the faculty is based in Downtown Toronto and is one of Canada's oldest institutions of medical studies, is known for the discovery of insulin, stem cells and the site of the first single and double lung transplants in the world. In 2019 the school was ranked 4th in the world for clinical medicine, oncology, and surgery by the US News and World Report and 6th in the world for Medicine by the Times Higher Education.

The tools we created include:

GI Basics: A structured and interactive “checklists” is also available to use at any stage of your medical rotation
GI Guidelines: Provides evidence-based society guidelines for GI and Hepatology conditions.
GI Calculator: Scoring calculators to help guide treatment decisions and provide real-time analysis results based on what values are entered client Success: We are currently working with our client on design enhancement and software maintenance.
